Porkkalanniemi is a peninsula located in southern Finland, near the city of Kirkkonummi. The area is known for its beautiful natural scenery, including rocky cliffs, pine forests, and scenic coastal views. Porkkalanniemi is a popular destination for outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and bird watching. During World War II, Porkkalanniemi was leased to the Soviet Union as a naval base as part of the Moscow Armistice. The area was returned to Finland in 1956, and today there are still remnants of the Soviet military presence, including bunkers and fortifications. Porkkalanniemi is also home to a small community of residents, and there are several summer cottages and vacation homes in the area. The peninsula is easily accessible by car or public transportation from Helsinki, making it a popular day trip destination for locals and tourists alike.
