This is the biggest load of crap I've ever seen. To judge how fast a Car goes they use either Radar or Laser. Laser, basically works by how long it takes for the beam to hit something and bounce back. This requires Very intricate Programming. These Computer Aided Design Software, for example, AUTOCAD are EXTREMELY expensive. NO Computer comes with that, My fathers company has one of the largest machine Shops in the SouthEast, The hardware and software required to do this sort of work, Sell for Thousands and Thousands of Dollars. Very well into the 5 Digit area. Also, the Laser their using is a 5mW>Laser that operates at 532nm. If this actually worked, it would be VERY easy to make a Homemade MRI. But, Let's say their is 30 Variables they have to solve for this to work. Their presentation leads me to believe, They were able to solve 10 of the 30 Variables, which are the only ones they speak of. They do not mention all the reasons why this process is Unviable. This cannot be done without the proper Software. Even if you were going to try to do this you would NEVER do it with the laser they have, because the glass distorts the beam.
