Album Info:

To make Cap’s trademark scale mail armor (which covers a slightly different area on Ultimate Cap than on Traditional Cap), I had planned to use a texture stamp of sorts: aluminum mesh. When pressed into clay, it makes a very nice regular scaly pattern. I cut out a piece of mesh large enough to fit across Cap’s back and arms, and basically pressed and stretched it over the form so that it would conform as much as possible; then I gently removed it so as to preserve the body contours. To help with the later placement of the star patches on Cap's shoulders, I punched out two small circles of scrap plastic with a hole-punch and glued them to the shoulders; these will also help me to know in which areas not to sculpt the scale mail texture.
