Album Info:

This thermostat is set for 18 deg C which is far too cold. I prefer to use the F scale and this stat was switched. This is in an office and nobody bothered to readjust the temperature before going home. It got cold outside overnight and the temperature of the indoor coil dropped to below 32 F causing the coil to freeze solid. Many people think that if you set the thermostat lower it will get colder faster. A thermostat acts like a simple light switch and just turns the cooling system on and off. the setpoint is just the temperature at which this switching takes place. If you set it too low the system will try to work for as long as it takes to get to the temperature you asked for. The thermostat for a cooling system should NEVER be set lower than 72 deg F or you will freeze the coil overnight.
