Place hands either side of a ruler, this helps me remember to not make two left hands or two right hands ( oh yep been there done that loads of times!!) I tend to work on the basic shape and do each step each side to help keep them relatively the same! Cut a groove about 1mm across and 4-5mm deep into the hand from each side ( left and right hand)
