The new frets are actually smaller than the original frets. The customer agreed with me, that on a bass, there's no good reason to use the huge fret-wire (I had plenty of larger wire, if he would have wanted it). The large diameter of bass strings do plenty to keep your fingers far off the fret-board wood, so small frets work just great.
