Album Info:

Terry wanted to do something special to add color to her church and found instructions for this quilt at (http://pages.prodigy.net/brian_jen/PHCr ossway/crossway.htm#CrossWayGallery) online. She pieced the quilt with a 1920 Pfaff 31 that her husband gave her as a surprse gift. The machine had been hidden behind a chimney during the war to prevent its use for scrap metal. Later, when the house was remodeled, it was found, sold, and shipped to the USA. It took months of cleaning to rid the poor head of the stench of smoke, but Terry says it is now her best stitching treadle. As she worked on this quilt, Terry's mother became ill and she found she needed something to focus on so she began to hand quilt. The night Terry completed the last stitch, her mother passed away. The funeral director, a quilt collector, used it as the pall during the service, an honor to her mother that Terry had not expected. The completed quilt is now hanging in her church in Houston.
