Album Info:
Here is the story told by Norma . . . Norma's mother, who was an excellent seamstress, took a quilting class in the 1980's. She made one quilt top with her Singer Touch and Sew and thoroughly disliked the entire process. She gave the top to Norma in the 1990's and it sat in Norma's closet waiting for redemption. Thanks to Captain Wightman and all of Treadle On's supportive Onions, Norma began to participate in TOBE's in 2003 and became a quilter in 2007. In the Fall of 2009, she decided to open up her mother's Rail Fence quilt top and decided to complete it as a present to her mother from her family. One son bought the backing, another son purchased the batting, and Norma's husband donated the binding fabric, thread, and ties. Norma assembled the quilt with her trusty 1934 Singer 15-88 treadle and her 1960 Singer 401. It is a tied quilt with hand sewn binding. The family's excitment was so great that they insisted that Norma's mother open their gift early and sleep under the quilt she had begun. Such a touching story!
