mikesey > albums > Macros of beautiful flowers
Album Info:
This proved to be an extremely difficult flower to photograph, due to its long stamens; the focus tended to be on them and not the flower. I took fifteen shots of these blooms but only one proved to be good enough to upload to Webshots. The black dots on the flower and its leaves represent the Blood of John the Baptist. The black dots are red to start with. The herb is used today for relief from depression.

Poor John the B. You did a lovely job with this photograph! The flower in the center is sharply focused! If you wanted more of the photograph in focus, the landscape setting will give you your widest depth of field, at least that's what I've read. If you have face detection, that may work to bring a group of flowers into focus, as the flowers would be detected as faces. If your camera has aperature settings, you could raise the number for progressively more depth of field. Zooming also reduces your DOF, I believe. Even beautiful things have their warts, Kelli!

I find the names of some plants very strange...like this one...this is such a beautiful flower, yet the name does not sound very nice.
