And installed T-nuts in the rail so entire table can be bolted together and if need be, disassembled if the fabric gets damaged and needs to be re-covered. Some people don't do this step, but I didn't think just setting the rail on the table with a snug fit would have been stable enough.
to prevent the cup holders from indenting the foam after upholstery is done, I made a few little 1/2" suppport rings so the cupholders have a solid support. Buy using 1" HD foam on the rail, I'm thinking it will compress about 3/8" - 1/2" and give a fairly smooth looking rail.
