This is a bearing from a belt drive furnace blower. If the belt is too tight this is usually the result. Many times I find a belt is too tight because a car mechanic was under the impression that a belt in any machine is the same. Furnace belts must be adjusted so that you can move the belt 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch at the midpoint between the pulleys. In many cars this would be much too loose. Car fan belts are usually much tighter but in a car that tightness is required to drive the fan and other components. The horsepower in a car is hundreds of times higher than the 1/4 or 1/3 HP of a furnace fan motor.
