Album Info:
This is the cutting end of an auger used to make fence post holes. This cutting bit is at the end of an approximately 6 ft long shaft. There is a T-handle at the end of the shaft. The shaft rests on logs in 2 places along its length. The a log stump is used to at the T-handle side to drive the point of the auguer in to the fence post. Then a the T-handle is used to rotate the shaft and bore the hole. The bit is very sharp and cuts very fast. One hole can be bored in less than a minute.
