I can't remember what year it was but I know that I have been out of work sense '05 & so it was a couple of years before that that a co-worker & I went to Ohio to see a sick relative of her's & Lady Bug's were actually in swarm's & you could hear them hitting the windsheild. We had decided to have a lunch at a road side picnic table & so started getting food out of the car & on the table & the lady bug's were so think that we couldn't do it. They were landing on the food, on our glasses, even trying to get in my mouth. So we scurried to get every thing back into the car & trying not to take them with us. As it was I actually was bitten a couple of times. I am now a 72 year old lady & that was the first time I had ever heard of a lady bug bitting. I had no idea that they ever bit anyone, but I found out the hard way. THEY WILL BITE. They said on the new's that it was something about a mating season. What ever it was it was a first for me. Have never seen them like they were that year. Jane - St.Peters, MO. USA Suburb of St.Louis, MO.

Wow, this is amazing. I thought maybe these were seeds, or coffee beans or something, but not ladybugs!

Hello Ladybug591--I have to say that I love your pictures. Thanks for sharing. I love lady bugs & when I was working a couple of years ago I glanced out my window & a little ladybug was on my outside mirror so when I took the exit off of the Interstate I rolled the window down to try & let her crawl on my hand but she flew away. Was really surprised that she held on for a 40 min. ride at 70+ MPH. A couple of years ago went to OH. with a co-worker & they were so bad that when we stopped to have a little picnic we had to get back in the car. They were all over us, on my glasses & even crawling inside the glasses. I didn't know the little critters bite but I had a couple of them that got on my arm & boy do they bite. I still like them.

I don't think they will be to many of Judy because Judy is the phoenix between theese ladybug and the only one. She will be the queen.

Amazing! I can't help but wonder what silent message went out only for ladybugs to hear that made them all converge at the same place at the same time. Are there aphids or bugs on that tree??? Or are they planning on hybernating?

Personally I don't have a real ladybug, but you've met my human ladybug http://community.webshots.com/photo/548859612/2244008510044137182nazDXk and if you like you can use it. Take care Judy, your delight with these ladybugs is really catching! Best, Orly

Yes, these are real, live ladybugs. There were millions of them, and they were falling from the trees all around us. It sounded just like the pitter-patter of rain as they dropped onto the leaves below. Judy, Thank you for posting my pictures. Jodi
