The glue is still wet on this, because I had to fix some parts, but I'm pleasantly surprised that it turned out halfway decent:)

This turned out really nice -- love it. I have also heard of making them out of concrete using a children's bucket. If you are interested I will try and find the instructions for you. It is something I have wanted to try myself. Best, Tammy :)

Roberta, I started from the bottom. I pinned the first row to the second row and then just wound my way up to the top and just kind of coiled it at the very top and then saturated it with the polyurethane using a sponge brush. I used the plastic wrap so I could peel it from the bottle when I was done. It was just a bonus that the plastic wrap came away from the skep, which was a nice surprise. I added the little loop after it was dry by shoving it through the little hole at the top. That's how I kind of broke it and had to reglue in some spots:)

Hi Barb, this turned out beautifully!!!!! I have been wanting to make one but i didn't know what kind of material one used for it. I have a round shape container but the top can't be sawed down for the handle area so i just have to figure out a way to get around it. You said you put plastic on the bottle? Is that so the rope can slide down after you have it all glued? But where do you start from, the bottom or the top. If you could give me some advise I would really appreciated. Again you did a GREAT job.
