Album Info:

Theresa created this gown & robe set from an early 1900's Simplicity pattern that was reissued as Simplicity Vintage Closet pattern #5188. This beauty from an earlier era required sixteen yards of fabric exclusive of the ruffles which she added as her variation on the original pattern. The pattern called for ribbon woven through lace to be sewn around the outside at the waist but she opted to make a belt from the ruffle fabric which she ran through a buttonhole on each side seam at the waist. This innovation allows the belt to be tied snugly in the front but allows the back of the robe to hang free which Theresa says makes a pretty effect when the wearer walks. This fabulous antique reproduction was made entirely with a 1903 Singer 27 treadle that is entirely consistant with the era.
