Album Info:

In 2000, the Bitterroot Valley of western Montana experienced disasterous wildfires. I used Jan Krentz's diamond techique to make the background for this quilt. The inspiration for the theme was from a photo of 2 elk standing in the middle of the East Fork of the Bitterroot River as the fire swirled around them. I added a 3rd elk for balance. The elk were created using free motion embroidery, then stitched to the quilt. This quilt was accepted at the IQA show in Houston for 2004, and both of the diamond background technique quilts were featured in Jan Krentz's latest book, "Diamond Quilts and Beyond".
