Rick Brebant came back to Manchester to take over the Phoenix in their first year as Coach. Despite his best intentions, Brebant soon became a player-coach. This was fantastic as Ricky showed he was still one of the finest players in the game. It was also terrible as it soon became apparent that leadership behind the bench was missing. Alas, towards the end of the season with the arrival of Paul Heavey as bench coach, Rick was able to concentrate on the playing side/
