Mexico (Puebla: Tehuacan, reaches into the state of Oaxaca). Syn. Cereus chichipe, Cereus mixtecensis, Myrtillocactus chichipe, Lemaireocereus chichipe, Lemaireocereus mixtecensis. Min.Avg.Temp.12 C. subfamily Cactoideae, tribe Pachycereeae. The small genus Polaskia has only two species and the second one is P.chende. Tree-like cactus, up to 5 m tall, much branched. ...nocturnal flowers, creamy to yellowish green and red globose fruit is edible and can be found in the local markets in July as 'chichituna'. This plant is in a seedling stage yet.
