Album Info:
This may be the third nearly whole brittle star known to science from the Cincinnatian . It may be a new species . This is a great example of how amatuers can contribute to scientific knowledge . It also is a testament to beginners luck , I found this on my second fossil hunt a mile from my home . Ironicly I broke off the other arms from poor handling as a beginner .

you found this star about a mile from your home ~ you lucky thing! i've never been fossil hunting - nowhere near around where i live, it is one of the things i will do before i die, and when i do, fingers crossed i have a bit of your luck. it looks amazing ~ such an inadequate word but none other comes close ~ isn't life amazing?!? thanks for sharing

Wow, what a lovely brittle star! Congrats on a great find. We don't have them in my area. - Brenda (Nova Scotia)
