Album Info:

If I was doing this for myself, I would have left off the charms or found others. This one was done on Belfast Vintage cloth with silks and charmpack from the designer. This was the most horrible stitching experience I have had to date. c. Jeannette Douglas

    • Thank you! It's wonderful how the memory fades over time. And I did start a second one because I was teaching this. The second time was easier because I fixed the biggest frustration with this piece. The problem for me was the horrible way the chart was organized. It did not flow. Practically each time I stitched a motif or tried to follow a sequence of stitches I had to flip pages, layout pages, constantly refer back and forth and back again. So much time was wasted with flipping papers looking for things. Secondly, the phrasing of the instructions was sometimes counterintuitive, clumsy taking several readings to take in. In doing my second one I photocopied all the pages: did a lot of cutting, pasting, quick note making. I essentially redid the chart and instructions to make them easier to follow with no flipping around and page juggling.

    • Hello, your stitching is wonderful. I had a question though about this one. You mentioned that this was the most horrible stitching experience that you had had. May I ask why? I've been thinking about doing this one so that's why I wondered. Thanks so much for any info! :) Keep up the beautiful work! :) Kim
