There were at least two different versions of the Skywalker Lightsaber in Star Wars. Though they looked identical on film, the differences have been documented and researched by the ICONS research team. Rubber grips are susceptible to deterioration. With archival presentation in mind, ICONS addressed this issue by manufacturing the grips in a non-deteriorating composite material.
