The Skywalker Lightsaber in Star Wars: A New Hope was crafted by an English prop company and was fabricated from an adapted Graflex 3-cell photo flash unit. It is noticeably different from the version of the same prop in The Empire Strikes Back. The grips were augmented windshield wipers and the "bubble" decoration near the handgrip was the lens from an old calculator. As all these original components can be difficult to locate, ICONS painstakingly recreated them from scratch.
