I've also always loved these, which are endemic to the RSA as Strelitzia - a southern African plant of Genus Strelitzia, wich includes the Bird of Paradise. Origin: named after Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1744-1818, queen of the British King George III. One of them flowers within sight from the window of my den EVERY year (4 times annually since we planted it) C&T - separate category of Flowers.
