Serez Vella, Argentina. Synonym: Piptanthocereus aethiops, Cereus azureus, C.beysiegelii, C.coerulescens, C.chalybaeus, Piptanthocereus chalybaeus, Cereus seidelii. Succulent shrub, up to 2 m, 1.5 m spread, the bluish stems are 3 inches in diameter, needs humus rich, well drained sandy soil. The clones with the thicker stems and 5-6 ribs have been described as Cereus chalybaeus while Cereus aethiops was described with 8 ribs and stems in 4 cm diameter. 5 days old seedling.
