Dypsis lutescens
skellsbells > albums > Container grown palms
Album Info:
Widely cultivated under the name 'areca' palm, though it is not in the genus Areca, nor is it in the same subtribe. This specimen is about 4 years old. Obviously it is a clumping palm. Foliage will turn a golden yellow color in the sun, especially if not provided with enough water and nutrients. Trunks and crownshaft are waxy, and the latter is covered with scales. Foliage is intolerant of frost, and nearly intolerant of freezing temperatures unless well sheltered.
