Dypsis leptocheilos
skellsbells > albums > Container grown palms
Album Info:
Slow growing as a seedling, but each new leaf is noticeably larger than the previous. As an adult, the crownshaft and petioles are covered in a thick brownish fur (tomentum), giving this species the nickname, teddy bear palm. Very similar to D. lastelliana, but the leaflets are held in a single plane instead of drooping. Does not tolerate temps much below freezing; maybe 30 if no frost. This one's approaching 3 years old in a 1 gallon container.
