I hate throwing things away. Does anyone have any use for one of these old New Home treadle machines without the cabinet? I'm going to recycle the old cabinet into a powder room vanity by sealing the wood and adding an above-counter sink bowl (yeah, I know, sounds crazy), but I don't have a use for the treadle machine.

I have a new home treadle cabinet and machine - my husband and I have been trying to figure out how the machine is supposed to be pulled up from it's upside down position in the cabinet. When I bought the machine, we believe it was altared to pull the machine up via a cable that runs through a drilled hole on the top of the cabinet that attaches to the side of the lift- lid. This can not have been how it is supposed to be - the cable is grinding it's way through the walnut top and the lid cannot be opened completely without pulling itself off it's frame (trim) attached to the cabinet. What a mess. Do you have any pictures of how this is supposed to work? Your's is the first New Home treadle machine and cabinet I have seen on the internet. Lots of Singers etc. I am glad to hear that you are using the treadle machine. I intend to use mine if I can ever get it mounted properly. At this point, my husband is making a pulley mechanism on a milling machine and we are trying to fabricate a way to make a cable/pully mechanism that will feed the cable through the cabinet top and connect with the lid. We have seen an instance with this working on a Singer model cabinet but trying to fabricate what we saw once without any reference has been a problem. I hope you can give some direction. You say you've used the treadle for another machine..did you also use the cabinet, or would you part with it?
