Yes, they just layed the slayed out wire on the body and screwd the bridge onto it. Both pickup cavities were sheiled and the wire soldered in to earth. An extra magnet and steel plate was added to this assembly. It impoved the sound a bit. The oversized ceramic magnet was too tough to remove.
