Album Info:

It is common, especially on older planes without the raised ring in the casting, for knobs to have cracks around the bottom. I use a socket to GENTLY open the cracks and add CA glue.

  • Thanks! As I indicated, I have a cracked tote. It's not broken through and I did not want to have to break it to fix it. I can open the cracks with a little pressure, but was uncertain how to inject he glue into the cracks. I thought about using a hypodermic needle... Thanks! -rich-

  • By using a socket that is snug in the hole you control the pressure applied adn reduce the risk of splitting the wood. CA glue is cyanoacrylate better known as super glue.

  • Great photo description...Thanks! I have one question. How do you get the glue into the cracks? I have a cracked tote and don't want to break it so I can glue it. Thanks! -rich-
