Album Info:
These engines were built by Gimsons of Leicester in 1891, and pumped all of Leicesters sewage until 1964. Working on the Woolf compond principle, each flywheel is 21 feet in diameter, and weighs 21 tons. Total pumping capacity of all 4 engines was 208,000 gph. This equates to roughly 180 horsepower for each engine.
