Apothecary Rose bush

Album Info:
Rosa gallica 'Officinalis'. Considered to be possibly the oldest rose cultivated in Europe, and an ancestor of many modern roses. Listed in many sources as being about 3'x3', the rose in the photo is 4'x7', and is 5 years old. Although once-blooming, for 3 weeks in June, it is one of my favourite roses...probably because it is so beautiful, and yet so fleeting!
