This is 1944 AEC Matador 0853 USJ 639 seen at the 19th Tyne Tees run at Bents Park,South Shields on June 3rd 2001. Disposed of by the British Army in 1957 it was converted to a recovery truck by Western Welsh Bus Company in Cardiff in 1958/9.It was used by them until 1980. It sat derelict in a field in Cumbria until 1998 when it was secured for preservation. Photo by Paul Fuller.
