"The Lotus Flower" by Roderic Quinn (1867-1949 Australia)

Album Description:

Pictures were taken in Jardin de Miramar in Antipolo City. Before then, I haven't seen a blue lotus flower, & didn't know that lotuses grow out of the mud, yet remain pure & unpolluted by it, thus, they're called "true gentlemen of flowers".

    • Hi Mary Ann! I enjoyed this album! I myself enjoy taking photos of flowers :) I think they are one of the most interesting and beautiful subjects in photography ever. How have you been doing? It has been a very long while since I last dropped you a line...well I've always been busy at work and had other priorities lined up. Hope you have a great time! Happy Holidays! Cheers, Glenn

    • In China, there are a lot of poems describing the lotus flower, for they come out of the dirty mud under the water, yet they still keep their pureness, freshness & beauty. Poets often use them to inspire people to keep on doing what they must do, and to show their best part to the outside world, just like the lotus flower, no matter how bad the situation or circumstance may be. Lotus has another characteristic. The plant's stalk is easy to bend in two, but it is very hard to break, or separate the two parts completely because they have many strong sinuous fibers that tenaciously hold on to keep the plant together. Poets use this scenario to point to the tight relationship of the members in a family, or two lovers for example, showing that no matter how far away they might live, nothing can really separate them in heart.
