Hi Marylin, Thank you for sharing this album of beautiful flowers. When I was first married, my husband was posted to Libya and we lived there (thankfully during peace time) in a flat in Tobruk on the shore of the Mediterranean and I don't remember seeing a single flower during the whole of my stay there. Obviously Afghanistan must be a suitable place for the growing of flowers or the opium trade would not be thriving, but with so many horrific events occuring there, you tend not to think of it in that light. At least when I was in Libya (in the days of King Idris), I was able to venture forth on my own, but in the case of Afghanistan, it must have been much worse and I can well believe that these beautiful flowers made a great difference to your ability to stick it out. I bet you are glad that you are back home now! After seeing so much poverty in Libya, I thought that I was returning to a Paradise, when I looked round my home town. Best wishes from England, Kathryn Jones

Hi Marilyn. This is a beautiful album of flowers from a country I least expect it from. This is a great discovery and yes, your pictures convey that there is hope in Afghanistan amidst all the chaos that I read in the newspaper. Thanks for sharing, my friend!
