Macro photography is probably the hardest to do. Many people are not even sure what it is. Close up photos are often called macro and are great shots but are not true macro. Just having a macro lens on the camera isn't enough. True macro starts when the immage is life size on the film. A lot of the time I can't even see what I'm taking a photo of while using extension tubes and the lens is closed down to get the most depth of field. The closer you get the less the depth of field. Then you need a flash to get the speed. Hopefully this will give you a bit of help with macro photo work. A good source of information on macro photography is George Lepp.

Hi Susan! I'm right there with ya on the macro thing ... it's complicated!! I've signed up for a photography class in Sept., and I can't wait to have someone help me on this stuff! I seem to do okay on up-close items that are fairly one dimensional (Queen Anne's Lace) ... but when they're multi layered (golden rod) ... it's a mess! This album is absolutely lovely ...
