    • Geez, that should be "burn or bury" not 'burn or buy' in my previous message. I hadn't seen mp40ss's message before posting, so just to let you know, it's not the "liberal education system" that spoon fed propaganda. I was educated in the so-called "liberal" system and am myself a liberal, both politically and socially, but history and memory are important to me as is free speech. If you're not hurting anyone/anything by your actions, collections, ideas or beliefs, it's no one else's business. That's the true meaning of LIBERAL! I agree with mp40ss on his/her salient point of having your collection appraised. It could be worth a great deal as a collection, especially if there are letters from your grandfather to home telling (it would have had to be a sort of code your family understood) just where he was fighting. Collect any information also, if possible, from the Military Archives regarding what medals and awards he may have received. My partner's father was in the battle for the Vosges mountains which was the area adjacent to the "Bulge"; later it was recognized as being part of the historical Battle of the Bulge. I hope you're a reader; the books written about this make fascinating reading. Best to you, Janice

    • I think people get upset for the wrong reasons - I understand seeing these images could be very emotional for some, but they are also part of history. I don't see anything written by this young man advancing neo-nazi thought. These seem to be items collected by his grandfather who was in the Marine Corps and more than likely fought in Europe in WW II. My partner's father also brought items back with him as did many other young men. Should all those families lock them up, or better, burn or buy them so they can never be seen again? I think not. The more exposure, the more the memory of the atrocities stays alive and carries on from generation to generation. Unfortunately, we'll never need these symbols to promote hatred in this world; more misfortune is brought in the shape of benign symbols than anyone is aware of.

    • History is reality, for those scared to look and respect the past, or for those who have swallowed the spoon fed propaganda of a liberal education system, your future is nothing more than transparent path to nowhere. These items are historical, part of the “real past”, and the only mention or reference to their associated belief system…comes from you whiners. So shut the hell up! Connecticut 269, nice collection…do not let others who possess immature and ignorant minds deal you their liberal and “truly” un-American perspectives of reality. You need to get those appraised by a professional then insured. Most of the knives and weapons are numerically marked and the Reich kept records of what belonged to whom. Depending upon the person and the unit the gear was associated with, the value will intensify.
