Album Description:
The Frangipani or Plumeria rubra var. acutifolia (syn.P.acuminata) is native to tropical America but is now grown all around the world. These are from my mum's tree. The scent of the Frangipani or Hawaiian Lei Flower immediately transports me to a tropica

I cannot express how good I think this album is, I decided not to leave comments on each picture because I would quickly run out of superlatives. I've just been reminded, once again by your photos, of how far I have to go in photography before I can count myself competent.

Susan, thanks for your visit to my Frangipani album and for your very kind words. I agree with you that visiting all our friends takes much time and not much is left for taking pictures... but I try to find the balance. On Wednesday morning I travel to Iceland for 2 weeks and I hope to come back with some good pictures. I will have to catch up with everything when I'm back. Take care, Yair.

Susan, this album is a collection of what photographic challenges and photographic art are about. I love your angles, use of light and daring compositions! I wonder WHY it was not featured until now?!?!Thank you so much for the message left at my featured album the other day, I appreciate your kind attention! And I DO hope to be back to congratulate you on yours! Friendliest regards, Gabriela

Thanks for your comment on my entry for the pattern challenge. I have taken many pattern pictures for years and never thought about posting them on Webshots. There will be a new album soon. Great album for a slide show. Faul

These are so pretty! I love their fragrance, and they always remind me of my vacation to Hawaii years ago. My hotel room in Waikiki was on the 25th floor, but I could still smell the fragrance of these flowers up there. Wonderful!

I love the smell of frangipanis! You've got some great shots in this album. Unfortunatly, I've missed out on frangipani photos this year because my camera was out of action. Now that I have it back, the blooms are all gone. Next year! Sharon

Frangipani always brings back sweet memory of my childhood days. I had this tree at my garden, and I loved to make them to a long necklace, or adored my hair with them as I practiced the traditional Bali dances. Thankyou for sharing these beautiful photos..

I have two grown Frangipani or Lei Plant as others call it. Mine are both yellow. I have three new cuttings just rooted, so it will be a while before I get flowers on them. This is a gorgeous album.

Hi Poppy, the Frangipani is a very simple flower yet an extremely beautiful one. You Australians do a beautiful job of growing them as well as photographing them. This is a beautiful collection and an almost abstract way of photographing them. Particularly appealing choice of background and lighting! Greetings from Florida, Paul. P.S. Thank you for your very generous comments on my Bald Eagles album. The nest site is atop a pine tree about 10 to 12 meters high with no other trees around it for about 50m. It is located about 3 to 4km from our house. I park the car just off the road about 45m away from the nest (minimum legal distance) and use a car window camera support under my Nikon D70 fronted with a 70-300mm zoom at its maximum zoom (a 600mm would be better, but I would have to take out a second mortgage on the house to get one). Given the 1.5x factor on the D70 this makes the lens a 105-450mm equivalent in 35mm format terms. This gives me about a 9x magnification. I also crop out the bottom of the nest making it appear as it I have a higher vantage point than I really have. I hope this is helpful in putting the pictures in context.

My dear friend Poppy. A big welcom. And what a great album. so beautiful. The fresh and wonderful flowers, are like a bird how announce the spring. ( We have here already...:) This particular wonderful flower , was growing at my late parents small garden . He was totaly naked from leafs at the winter time, and was blooming at the begining of the summer. My sister Tirza's ( tirza_h at W S )wedding was filled with bouquets of this flower. Today, when I walk in my neighbourhood at season time, waves of nostagy and fragrance from this flower , escort me along from neighbour gardens. Thank you for sharing this most beautiful album. RAN
