Album Description:

The tourist said:"Only a cactus freak can love this plant." But when this 'ugly' cactus blooms a wonder happens. This album is our reference to a true majesty the "Queen of the Night" and her short but beautiful Life.

  • Hi Heidi! The Queen of the Night is certainly a very special flower and I always wish that each flower would last for more than one night. You have documented the life of the flower very well here. When mine are flowering I usually have to go out about 10 pm to get them fully opened, then even at 6 am they have withered. Fragrance is fantastic! Thankyou for sharing and for your kind words in my Calendar g/b. Best wishes.. Gladys, Western Australia.

I do not have time to look it up in books I have hadrly time to tend to my 2 usernames..and I am ashamed. I also have family visitors from outside the country and all this happens togehter. You are so sweet that you visited me despite all the crowd of friends and favorites you have. Herzliche Gruesse/kathy

  • Heidi, What an astonishing album, I am so glad I looked at this tonight. It is a beautiful story of a very spectacular flower. I have never heard of it, so quickly to be born and very quickly death. But while it is here it truly is a Queen in all her glory. Thank you for sharing the spellbinding story to go along with your outstanding captures. Leigh

  • hello Heidi and what a wonderful job you have done of telling this story in words and photos. There is something rather poignant in reading about the life cycle of plants coming to an end but you have handled it all VERY well indeed. Now I want to thank you very much for looking at my new Southern Ocean album and for writing such nice words in the guest book. It was a real mish mash of photos, believe me, and the scanner was working overtime. I hope all is better for you both now and that you can settle down without fear of floods, storms, fires etc. You could certainly do with out those. Thanks once again and big hugs from the land down under, Peter

  • Hi Heidi, I commented many times in you albums and for some strange reason I never get any response ---wchich of course is not mandatory -- from you. I admire your photos, the place where you live and your origins. Myself I was born in Europe too.************** Now to your lovely "queen" :yes it is one of the wonders of nature and I have one too here in California, actually I have also an entire album dedicated to this incredible flower titled " One and one ..still is one" with the lyrics of a famous song. I have done it in July 2004. If you have time you can take a quick look. Thank you for reminding me of the wonders of this Queen!! Nice regards and congratulations.kathy

  • How is the little Mex -Bug, I am so amused to see you have taken this name for yourself, and just think it started with a typing error He He, anyway it is only fitting and right that I have the honour of being first to this very wonderful but sad album, It is like in real life beauty fades very quick but ugly stays ugly. thats what Carolynn keeps tell me not sure whether she means the beauty part or the ugly bit. it looks a little like a hibiscus, but I know that cactue flowers can be so nice. Thanks for the GB, and the 13 views, not to worry there is always another day, besides hearing from you is so much more important to me after all those fires, when will the disasters end, Do take care and give Phil my regards, at least three bug hugs to keep you going until the next time Ken. #####
