• Hi Jayne, see you are off to a flying start. To answer your Q about the "Father Christmas box", I assume it the the one where all the little kiddies letters sent to Greenland get put! If any of them read this, tell them he collects them about end of september!! Greenland is a facinating place & we enjoyed our cruise there, everyone should go once, as a lecturer said "you are going to the edge of the civilised world". Now a Q for you, when you viewed my "Round Tower Churches album" how many did you see? I loaded 39 on friday & all OK but only the last page with 9 there now! Eric

  • Hello Jayne. I know that seek the interesting mailboxes, but here in rural USA, we have really plain ones. I do have an image that you can use, if you like, no pressure here, that is located in my "Traveling Around" album. I uploaded it this morning. Good luck on your new venture. Hugs, Lynn

  • HI Jayne This will turn out to be one of the best of your albums yet... I am thinking.I do love the one in Rome. Ours over here have no personality whatsoever.I will have to get one for you soon though. I have been way too busy to get my photoshop yet but it's still on my list. Take Care...Kathryn

  • Hi Jayne, glad to see you got your postbox album up and running, if i see any interesting ones on my travels i will take them for you, but i am still missing a British postbox in the collection. The reason we have 2 slots is 1 for letters and 1 for stencil work, or flyers, but most postboxes only have one slot these days. Good look with the collection. Regards Mike.

  • Hi Jayne; you've honored me with two photos and the blue one really looks a relic among the others. Hopefully someone will come up with a better one for you, but no one will have my 'tyre' as you spell it. That's the result of picking up what they call a 'tech screw' - a heavy construction screw, ruining a special VW 'tire' (our spelling) and Mike couldn't bear to toss it. Soo, he painted it, pulled the mailbox up and reset it through the tire. Between that and my VW L@dybeetle under the carport, people have no problem finding us!!! ... Have fun collecting photos for this winning album! Nighty nite ... Love, Judy

  • What a wonderful idea Jayne, Now I will be on the lookout for a unique mail box...I should go out and take a photo of our beat up mailbox, most likely teenagers where having their fun one evening driving down our road with a baseball bat smashing mailboxes along the way. Never will we in the USA find the great mailbox like one ones found across the pond...Hugs, Laura

  • Hi Jayne, Well here I am in California for a long holiday with my 2 daughters. I just found this album on postboxes & mailboxes and will be glad to send you a picture of mine when I get home but that won't be until after March 20th. I have been at daughter #3's for almost 3 weeks and in a short time will be going touring a little then going to #1's for the duration. We really feel like Englishmen as we have been doing so much walking. When I get to #1's I will have a number of photos to put into Webshots. Hope all is well with you. We here a well ourselves. Love 'n hugs Janet

  • Hi Jayne, Thanks for your kind comments about my spiderwebs. Can't stand spiders but just had to get close enough to take those pictures. Im feeling better now thanks and hope you are too. It was odd wasn't it that we were both ill at the same time. I haven't got any pictures of mailboxes but will keep my eye out for you when i go to the Lake district in March. I guess they may have different ones there. We will see. Who would have thought there were so many different kinds. It makes for a very interesting album. Take care, keep warm, and have a good week Jayne. Bye for now. Love Chesca #####

  • Hi Jayne, I didn't forget you, I just need some more days. If you are looking for mailboxes . . . . we have here in Israel one of god's mailboxes. It is called the Wailing wall or the Western Wall in Jerusalem. People use to communicate with god by sticking notes in between the cracks in the wall. Lots of people even come from abroad to do so. In yesterdays featured album from Bella (xxvxxsfaith) are pictures of the wailing wall, maybe you could ask her for this mailbox. And there are many close-ups of those cracks with letters in it on webshots. here are some links: http://community.webshots.com/photo/1235038207062105630ciwGib http://community.webshots.com/photo/1355905411071296148LLWOQy Maybe not the postbox you had in mind, but - it just crossed my mind. :-) Btw, the album is growing beautifully!!! Keep going, I love your ideas! - Galit

Beacause I'm confined to my wheelchair it's tough getting some of the cool ones. Those are ussually mouinted to the peoples home. I simply love this one in Texas all in a row on a country road. Jaye I notice others have shared there post boxes with you. I have some posal photos I'm not sure if you would want or not. Then there are others I think you would really like, but how do I get them to you in JPEG so you can do with them what you need to. I'm still new at this so a little help will go a long way.   • Dear Jayne, what an honour to have one of Finland's postboxes in your gorgeous album! This is such a great idea, and it's cool to be a part of it. "Tyhjennetään" means to be emptied. Ma (short from maanantai) - pe (short from perjantai) means from Monday till Friday at 5 pm. Thanks dear friend, lots of love, Salla ps. the phone number under the other text is a service number for people who might have had an accident with the mail box like unluckily dropped their car keys in the box in stead of letters. ;

We uploaded some photos in a private album: http://community.webshots.com/album/547834421XXKtNV You can chose all you like, arrange them (size etc...). For saving it's better to click on "full size", but you already know that... No copyright! We are writing that in English, hoping you have so no copyright problems with the Webshots. Aren't you getting clever with your html? ;-) Vesuvio's really is a great place to hang out and soak up the past - you'll have to come back so we can have a drink there together! I see I will have to get busy and find a post box suitable for this album - I just find US mailboxes (as we call them) so boring compared to yours and the rest of the world's. I'll have to see if I can come up with an imaginative angle somewhere. Love, Beth

After seeing all the attractive boxes from other parts of the world, our country needs either some paint or new mailboxes!!!

Hugs, Judy

    said of ladybug591 ladybug591 2006.03.02 at 18:28:43 PST

  • Hi Jayne - so glad you liked my shot, but I have to agree with Judy that the condition of our mailboxes is rather deplorable. And for all you non-San Franciscans out there, it's a cable car, not a trolley. The cable car driver will make you get off and walk if he hears you call it a trolley (he actually threatened my mother with this). The trolley cars are the refurbished ones that run along Market Street and the Embarcadero - very different mechanism. But no one other than a San Franciscan will care what you call them. (And "Frisco" is another story all together!) Lots of love and hugs, Beth

said of bvillanyi bvillanyi 2006.03.04 at 09:09:28 PST

  • Dear Jayne, okay, you have amended the cable car description - the drivers will all be happier now :-) As to Frisco, well... all I can say is that when I first moved out here from the midwest I was harshly scolded any time I said Frisco - I was told that only out-of-towners use that word. Having said that, one of my favorite jazz bands from here is Bob Schulz's Frisco Jazz Band, but that is because it's named for the railroad, NOT the city. Does that explain it? Anyway, I'm so happy you liked the shot and I will keep my eyes open for others. As to me disappearing from your favorites list, it's because you added me as a friend - webshots automatically removes friends from the favorites because that would be redundant, and it gives you more room for favorites that way too! Hope your spring comes soon - ours is trying very hard, but we actually had a little snow on the mountains here this morning. The flowers and trees don't know what to do! Love, Beth

Oh yeah, pls use my german post box and take a look at the MOOHHL box I snapped in Texas, if you like it pls use it: album: USA, Texas Austin, Bandera etc about #41. Somewhere in Australia we ran into some areas where they were using those huge metal milk cans for mail boxes. I am gonna see if I can find those and scan and let you know! Great Album Jayne! • Hi Thanks so much Jayne, I am so happy my beautiful old German Mailbox found a showcase, it just got lost in all these other pictures! The MOOOHHHL box from countryside texas, too. And yes you are so right, I'd never expect this to end up in England. But you know this whole webshots thing has been such an incredibly amazing ride...especially the last month, it is so overwhelming and God knows where your downloads end up? Timbuktu for all I know, it is great!!! I just started this posting of snap shotss to share my travels with my friends and family while we were living in Singapore, I wanted all of them to be part of this amazing experience and look what happened, now half the world is part of it, wow!!!! And I've met so many wonderfully talented people and wish I had 24 hours more in a day just to visit everyones albums. For now I just try to do a few a day. And I will most certainly come back for more of yours!!!Have a fantastic weekend.Marita

  • This album is much fun to look at, Jayne. All these different post and mailboxes from all over the world. I like it a lot. If you are interested, I can make a contribution to this album too. In my album Exploring Belgium(wely246) I have a photo of a Belgian mailbox (nr. 20). The picture was taken in Tongeren, Belgium near the beguinage. Let me know if you want to use it for your album, and if you want me to send it to you, or that you simply download it from my site. Thanks for your gb entry in Caitie’s album (with great joy..) they are growing up nicely. The album Pipi’s Place Rattery (also on wely246) is updated with the latest pictures of the gang. Maybe our Basil will be a father too when all goes well. At the moment there is a beautiful young girl visiting him in order to become pregnant. When she delivers successfully in about 3 weeks, a daughter will join our ladies group in about 8 weeks. Life goes on! It was very nice to hear from you Jayne, and it doesn’t matter that you didn’t have the time to call on me sooner. I am in the same position regarding time as you do. Friendly yours, Els (wely246/evanwely)

  • Hi Jayne. I appreciate so much the note you left in my Guestbook. Thank you for taking the time to comment on my photographs. Hopefully, I will get better soon and make many new friends on Webshots. I just love seeing everyone's photos and learning tips from their work. I know you love mailboxes. If you look in my album that I'm working on titled "Tennessee Stars," I think you'll find a mailbox that is a little different from those in England and Europe. Just thought it might give you a laugh. Have a great day and thanks so much for your beautiful photography! - Carole from Tennessee (USA)

  • Hi Jayne, it's sure growing isn't it. Amazing collection, and so many different types. I like the fancy ones from Europe, but I must admit the American ones where they pick up and deliver would be much more practical. Well for a lazy person like me they would anyway, LOL. Love and Hugs Chris and Jay

  • Hey Jayne, thanks for the note you left in my Guestbook about Nashville Stars. If you look on down this page of messages, you will see where I sent you a message about a particular mailbox of a country music star that was different from your album about mailboxes. I thought it would give you a laugh. No monarch's crest - just a guitar with a famous name on it. These are all music stars in the album so far. I am still gathering photos for the album. You asked about Graceland. It is in Memphis, TN. I've been there but don't have any pictures that I could provide. I've looked at your new albums, and their wonderful as I expected. I also sent you an invitation to be friends. Thought maybe you could "coach" me a little on my photos. I know you're busy though. Thanks for taking the time to write me. I really appreciate it. - Carole from Tennessee (USA)

Our daughter Barbara (bao666) is actually in Portugal: she asked us to tell you that she has two pictures of mailboxes from PORTUGAL for you in the following album: http://community.webshots.com/album/90520571EZvSij (the two last pictures). We have seen that you already have chosen one of her Swiss mailboxes! Your album is growing, we love it! With best wishes and hugs, Henri and Käthi

  • Hello Jayne, it is fascinating to see your album grow! what a great idea you had! I added another photo of a double mailbox in my album of Lisbon. I actually took the photos while on business trip. You should have seen the people on the sidewalk watching me fishing my camera out of my briefcase (I just bought a tiny little Olympus 700)and taking pictures of the mailboxes, then wondering what it was all about, why would anyone take pictures of a mailbox... Lots of fun. Thank you so much for your various comments and g.e., it's really nice of you to take the time to look at my album. Regards from Lisbon (I return to Geneva tomorrow). Barbara

  • Jayne; this album could be used here in the US to show how other countries value their mailboxes with distinct shapes and colo[u]rs. Personally, I really love all the red ones! Great new additions from Lisbon ... Hugs, Judy

  • Hi Jayne, more and more from all over the world, the album is growing very nicely, It is really fascinating all the different types that there is. I think it is marvellous the way that we can communicate through pictures with the whole world even countries that are not frienly towards us it make not a jot of difference to us keen snappers. We have just returned from Whitlshire where we spent a few days trying to dodge the rain, managed a few nice pics which will appear sometime or other, I have I think about 500 or so pics waiting for a slot somewhere. I hope you are well and looking forward to the summer, do take care and good luck Ken xx
