Congrats on this feature, and I hope it inspires more people to look critically at the beautiful world we currently occupy. Sadly, there is no guarantee it will be here for future generations to enjoy the way we have. Thanks for the reminder.

    • IMMEDIATE IMAGE USAGE and Licensing inquiry for textbook. Time URGENT This is the second time I have had to post this long message, as it keeps disappearing. I am a photo researcher obtaining images for Quarasan Group of Chicago (www.quarasan.com) who designs educational products. Our client, Houghton-Mifflin Publishing, wants to use your image Etna2828, as a full page Unit Opener for a 6th grade Science textbook for a Unit titled "The Dynamic Earth" -- if it is available to scan at 11 x 17 at 400 dpi and we can have a hi res this week. If you grant us permission to use this image, and it can be scanned to fit our publishing requirements, the hi res could either be posted for downlod on an ftp site, or put on a CD and sent FedEx to us -- for which I would provide the FedEx account number approved for this project. If you get this email in time, and if it can be scanned to that size, and you grant us permission to use it, I would fax a permissioning letter to your fax number and a pricing grid for your usage fees at various sizes. For an educational product, the 51 pica x 65 pica rate (about 8 1/2" x 9 1/2") would be approximately $450 to $600. I sincerely apologize for the very short notice. They asked for this image on Friday and we had a difficult time getting to the owner of this image (we finally went thru the website's press office), and we are in the final proofing stage of this book,. If this email does not reach you today (Tuesday) and you are unable to respond by Wednesday Feb 2nd, regretfully I will have to use another image. Thank you for your consideration and your terrific photo -- I hope that we can make a good arrangement with you for its use in this Science textbook. Bev Osborn Quarasan Group 405 W. Superior St Image - 4th Floor Chicago, IL 60610 bev_osborn@quarasan.com 312-981-2917 fax: 312-981-2504
