    • Hello again Shlomo!Today I have been going through my gardening books to check out the name of photo 2 for you -just had to make sure ,Barbados Lily ,a Hippeastrum Cultivar ,you photographed an unusual one there my friend!3rd photo ,1st line ,1st page ,another Geranium ,or some people call this type a Pergolium (just to get tricky!)Now the 2nd page 2nd photo is another petunia (they come in an amazing assortment of colours) if you look closely at all of your petunias you will notice that although very different colours their petal and leaf formation is the same or similar.Photo no 19 are petunias,20 Petunias and Impatients ,21 white & Pink Impatients and purple petunias .23 Pink Impatients (once again all the same family just different colours )Your wonderful bouquet in photo 25 has gorgeous Red Roses (symbolizing love and white statice to make them look prettier! Lovely bunch of flowers ,would make a girl blush to be given those! Do you have a macro setting on your camera?If so read up about it and have a wee play taking photos as close ups of flowers,I find I get much better photos either very early in the morning or getting on late in the afternoon just before twilight ,I find that the light for the flowers is better then and you get a softer and truer photo to the colour of the bloom you are photographing.I often find white flowers very difficult to photograph because of the reflective quality of their petals .I must congratulate you on your photograph of the red roses ,red is a very difficult colour to photograph with a flower and that one is super !great work!take care my friend and hope this helps you-warmest wishes from New Zealand -Lynne

    • Shlomo, I used a Canon 20D with a Sigma 180mm Macro lens for all these butterflies shots. The lens does the trick: it magnifies 1:1 at 40cm os distance, which is ideal for insects. With your camera you'll have to get much nearer, like 4 cm. With my camera I have many more manual settings than yours. I normally shoot in aperture priority mode, lowest aperture I can, high ISO (400) for speed and the camera is set to saturate a little the colors. I don't know if you can control all these parameters on yours. You should be able to play with most of them but, for example, I wouldn't use your camera with ISO greater than 100. I normally take a HUGE number of pics, since many shots are ruined by the subject moving. With butterflies is mostly a question of patience and shoot many many pics. After shooting, I use Photoshop Elements 4 to crop the pictures, correct minor defects (if the defects are major I discard the pic), usually sharpen a little bit, play with saturation and contrast (but lightly) and may reduce noise, if needed. Great results, but it takes time! :o) Ciao! Roberto

    • Dear Shlomo. I was quite surprised to get an invitation for TWELVE albums. I looked especially at flowers of course and was surprised you felt proud enough to upload them. Some points: flash used no 15 (never use flash on flowers), blurred extremely 5,6,7,8,9,11,12,14,16, photo showing tape? no 4, underexposed no 2. In many photos you see the automatic date displayed: why? The other albums are mostly for your own aquaintances only... So why the invitation for 12 albums? Sorry if I am rude.
