Album Description:

These are photos showing the wide variety of Homes built during the Victorian Era. When Air conditioning did not yet exist, many hours were spent by Victorian families sitting on the porches of these homes. I invite you see my other Victorian albums.

    • This is such an interesting album. The photography is superb - and the close-ups gave much detail. I noticed quite a few houses were in Michigan. Best regards, DeeAnne

    • Do you travel all around taking these beautiful pictures? They sure are nice. Need to call it a day for now but will look at more another time. Like to have one of those houses. I would just like to have a big from porch. I would settle for a small porch. I have a L shape ranch and NO porch. Later, Bettyboop

    • Hello again Bill, thankyou for your very kind comments on my UK barns. I do hope to get photos of a few others I know about that are rather special, but maybe not untill next year now. Yes, Tithe barns were for the 10% to the local church & most are huge. Interestingly my lead photo of Dersingham barn is of later vintage than the others & although called a tithe barn & situated in isolation next to the church is not reckoned to ever have been used as a tithe barn but just as a farm barn. Rather elaborate for that, so perhaps some agreement between the Vicar at time & a local landowner who both thought it would decorate the village! Now I must comment on this album. There seems to be an unlimited supply of photogenic Victorian buildings in USA. The styles & colours seem endless as well. You have some classic examples here but I do like the brick house with the green porch, that must have been someone well off to build in brick. Eric

    • Mr. Bill, Nice album. Like the way you put these together into a one-item show, Victorian 'Porches'. Good show. I downloaded a couple of your beauties, I think I've got more of your photos than any of the others throughout all your albums. Don't know where you find the time. Appreciate you answering my questions on the 'widows walk' business. Best regards and again greetings from the Oregon Coast. Ron
