In the 15th century, the area where Keukenhof is now located consisted of woods and dunes. Here game was hunted by the inhabitants of the Teylingen castle, the remains of which can still be seen. © www.tomjutte.tk

Hoi Tom, heb net jouw Keukenhof Gardens album via de slideshow bekeken. Het is erg mooi geworden. Vooral de foto's die je vanaf de grond hebt genomen, zodat de bloemen een mooie blauwe achtergrond kleur hebben gekregen. Ik zit zelf te denken aan de aanschaf van een camera met een draaibaar beeldschermpje zodat het voor mij ook mogelijk wordt om dit soort opnamen te maken. Ben zelf net een week geleden naar de Keukenhof geweest. Was mijn eerste keer. Het is echt een ongelooflijk mooi park. Jammer is alleen dat het na 14:00hr zo ontzettend druk werd. Heel erg bedankt voor je bezoek aan mijn Orchids album. Groetjes, Martin.

Hi Tom, I just could not resist having another look through this superb album of beauty, colour and light! Unfortunately we did not make it to the Keukenhof this year, as my husband was admitted to hospital at the time we were supposed to be going and now it looks as if we will not be able to go there next year either, as I am due to have an eye operation and it is likely to happen in the spring. Hi Tom, There's so many beautiful colours to choose from, it's hard to say which one I like the best. My grandmother gfrew tulips in her garden and would always let me pick them to take to school for my teacher. Needless to say I was a big hit with the teacher every spring...Jules

Hello Tom, just thought I'd visit this colourful and marvellous album one more time before I leave Webshots. I think you knew it was coming, but there isn't much time left now. As you know I'm a member of Red Bubble where the membership is free and there is no ads or pop ups. Also, since I've had 5 features in the last 3 weeks there, whereas it's been over a year since having one here. This whole album is just awsome, I could have commented on every photo. I really like how green everything is there, and how well the flowers bloom. I love tulips, but can't grow them too well here. Where I live in Southern California is beautifl in many ways, but green isn't one of our main colors..........just sometimes in winter. Thanks so much for sharing. Can't beat our beautiful beaches and waves.

Hallo Tom, Ja ik had je album al bewonderd, schreef ook een commentaar hier een aantal maanden geleden. Het blijft mooi om naar die bloemen te kijken! De Keukenhof zelf is zo'n kleurenpracht, ik ben er twee keer geweest. Prachtig. In Zeeland zijn af en toe ook bloembollenvelden. Zelfs eentje vorig jaar in de buurt waar ik woon. (Op de zware kleigrond.) Om eerlijk te zijn was het een armetierig veldje, met grote lege stukken erin, maar met fotograferen kan je dat als je wilt, een beetje omzeilen. Is Webshots nog erg "levend"? Ikzelf kom er maar sporadisch meer. Groetjes, Kara

Helaas zijn de manenrobben er niet meer. Ongeveer 2 weken nadat ik die foto's gemaakt had stond er een berichtje op teletekst dat het park ze allen had laten inslapen vanwege een tbc besmetting die niet te behandelen was. Ieder jaar, in Mei hebben wij een tulpenfeest in Ottawa ter herinnering van het feit dan Princes Juliana en haar familie in Ottawa hebben gewoond tijdens de oorlog. Dear Tom. Thank you for your nice and kind comment at my "here and there in Israel " album. This is a great album. I saw few of Keukenhof albums in the past, and this one is one of the bests. Despite the fact that I had been dozens of times in Holand/Niderland , I have never been to the beautiful gaedens of Keukenhof, and I hope to visit them one day. ( I visit Holand the first time in in 1964, as I was 24 year old in my first visit out of Israel where I was borned. My first visit was to Nymigen , ( I hope I pronounse it well...) To the Firadexe-The 4 days march / long walk, it was a honymoon for me and my new wif..... Since, I had been there for 5 times , but no more today......Greetings from Israel - RAN

Tom: Do you know the actual origin of the tulip? Was it originally only found in Holland or was it pretty well distributed in Europe or does anybody know at this point. Hi Tom love your Tulips. The area where I live in New York was originally settled by the Dutch and every May the city of Albany has Tulip Festival which is regularly attened by a member of the Dutch Royal Family. I will do my best this May to to gather some photos of the festival.
