Thanks for the heads up Yair, I was interested to see some of the effects you achieved, and especially with shadows. Building my own light box became an integral part of the whole experience; I learned quite a bit, and still have some way to go, it certainly added to my skill set. I looked at your other album of owls and prefer the white background to the black; it was an interesting comparison. Owls don't float my boat, but I was fascinated to see what you achieved with your light tent. Thanks for sharing and have a great week, Keith.

Hi Yair, this is an interesting album! Have you travelled to all these places? My son has a small owl collection - it all started when he wanted to collect dragons. We were in Poland and the dragons were too big so we bought an owl instead!!! My son thought that his parents were truly weird!. SInce then we have bought him an owl from various places and he has them proudly displayed in his room!!. The latest one came from The Blackforest in Germany. Maybe I will photograph them so you can see them too! Vanja

Dear Yair, What a wonderful way of remembering all the places you have visited, which do seem to be many, if you always find an owl to bring back home with you. Its wonderful that in many parts of the world they are thought of as very special birds as I always think of them that way. I really enjoyed looking through the whole album. The trouble with collecting is they tend to take over the house. I started to collect eggs as they can be so sensory a bit like gem stones that have been polished. Hi Yair, I recognize my album is a little bigger than usual, but I have so many photos to post! Only that day I took almost 800! Of course, they aren't all usable... I cannot split this one in two for two reasons: first, I really don't have the time now, I'm still painting my house! And second, as I have dedicated it to Jill (jillbatchelor) it wouldn't be very practicable ( I don't want to steal flowers from her:) I think, with time, I'll remove some photos which are rather alike, it will reduce it a little. I hope to make a better photo of it(-: This owl is a memory from my parents , It was standing in their backyard, My mom and dad loved owls too, this is made off a birch tree. It is a inherit. Thank you so much for your nice and friendly words, yes I am a little shy when I see so much entrys, everyone is loving my photos, and I am soglad and happy to do this. I have a easy camera, with 4 different choises, one is close up but I cant soom in ore out, just one possition, cant fitt up . so I have to try and experiment how close. It will be better, but when I really want to make special photos I must buy a camera with more choises and special zoom lence, I think too expensive, I just try to make photos, but who knows, someday?? My exx-wife collected owls and I used to buy them whenever I found a new one and I still have an appreciation of them. Your collection is wonderful. Do you have a display of the owls in your home? I will try and photgraph owls in Australia to add to your collection. You must be 100 years old to have visited so many places. Australia is so far away from just about everywhere. Hi Yair!!!!!! You too are gathering owls??? I come from a small town which became famous because of it's owls. There was one rich guy who wanted to buy some tasty birds from a poor guy, but the guy sold him owls in a sack! Till today my town people are called 'owl buyers' and the owl is the symbol of the town. I have a few owls, one of my town, two I got from my children when they came back from South America and from Thailand and the last is from Japan. Hi Yair you have great collection of miniature owls. This bird has always been a favourite of mine as I had one as a child. I found it seemingly abandoned in the woods, took it home and hand reared it. It stayed with us for two years sleeping with the dog in her bed and riding around on her back as it did on my shoulder when I went shopping. The owls that I create are out of sheet metal they are cut from one sheet of metal which is then folded origami style to from a life sized bird. A cormorant or hen for example requires an eight-foot length of steel to make just one. There are no joints in the whole structure. Take care Paul.
