Hi Captnslow, Awesome fire grenade collection! I am an experienced privy digger, having dug privies since 1978. I've dug lots of great pontiled bottles over the years but just last weekend dug my first intact "parts" of a firegrenade. What I found were the amber and clear thirds of a Harden's Improved 3 piece fire grenade. There were 2 broken cobalt thirds, 1 broken amber and 1 broken clear thirds. Many of the pieces of the broken ones were not found indicating possible use of the grenade - hope it worked for them! The amber one is embossed Hardens Improved Pat. Oct 7, 1884 Hand Grenade Nest System Fire Extinguisher in a round smooth area of the grenade. None of the other 5 thirds had any embossing on the round area on them (including the broken amber one). Both grenades still have the liquid in them and the metal cap stopper. I would like to buy my digging buddies out to put these grenades in my collection and hoped you would give me an estimate of their value. My email is mdiscoidalis@att.net. Appreciate any help you will give!!! Sincerely, Mark Churchill

Captnslow, You have a great collection of Fire Grenade photos! I was hoping to use 3 or 4 in a book I'm working on about sea glass. Please advise on your terms. Thank you for posting these! -Richard LaMotte rlamotte@friend.ly.net

I have three Red Comet fire grenades. One is red, on yellow and one is clear liquid in it. They are still in their holders on the walls where they have been for ???????? years. The holders say Red Comet too. How much interest are there in these things and how much are they worth? Thank you for your time. L.Fort tlfort@yahoo.com
