Album Description:

On my way to my second place of work I see them since years, but never I saw they had fruits! :-) My search found out, that the fruit is even eatable!! They are about 3 meter high, the fruit has 5-7 cm and the flower up to 25 cm in its diameter.

  • Beautiful album, Galit...but I was hoping to see the open cactus flower.....ist it one of those really fragrant ones that bloom only at night? Thank you so much for visiting my album and for your kind comments.. I posted a new album yesterday under "digitaloma" of flowers in my garden this year. May the Allmighty God protect you. Shalom! • Hallo Galit!

  • Hi Galit, Thank you for your kind words about my featured album yesterday. This album of yours is fascinating (and the 'by night' one too). You captured the life cycle of this amazing plant so beautifully! Regards- Lynne from Virginia

  • Hi Galit! At last I have actually made time to view this amazing plant by day! Lovely pictorial story of the formation and ripening of the fruit. Thankyou also for that interesting site, yes nature is certainly marvellous in its ways and it was lovely that the leaves responded to your touch. Thankyou for sharing and have a good day.. Gladys.

  • Hi Galit, thankyou so much for signing my guestbook. This is a fantastic album, and you are a wonderful photographer. The first one, you must have spent a lot of time doing the photo, but it's wonderful, like the rest. No, I did not grow the bottlebrush and the Protea, I went to a flower show to take them, LOL. I cheated, don't you think?. I hope you had a good day being featured, still more to come, I hope. Well done. Take Care. Ray and Eileen. (UK)

  • Dear Galit, Thankyou for your lovely entry in my 'My Paintings' guestbook. Interesting that your mother in law used to make colour paintings from B/W photos. That's very similar to when I was asked to paint the 'Cornfield'. All I had to go on was quite a dark, almost sepia photo. Luckily, this field is quite near my home, and I pass it often, so I had the colour of it on a sunnier day, registered in my head. I suppose, when you paint, you are retaining this kind of information without even realising it. I have noted your addition to the caption of 35, Don't know what people will think, probably that the old girl is finally 'loosing her marbles' (going mad) LOL. They don't know my daft sense of humour like you do! They're only plants Galit, don't let them spook you.:-) It's still a fabulous album, and great viewing. Take care of yourself, dear friend, and continue to bring us your lovely photos, God bless, Sheila.

  • Hello, dear Galit, When I wrote in your night-time album, I hadn't yet seen this one. I love it! So many view-points. I think you could have used my ladder even more this time, they're SO tall! :-). The open fruits remind me of passion-fruits.(11) Do you think maybe some fruits grow so high so that only the birds can eat them, so that they take them to make new trees grow? The fruit in 30, might that have been eaten by mice? I loved 35, they certainly are watching the world go by. Made me smile. Like aliens from space, keeping an eye on us!!!I see your lights on a christmas tree, but fear you are getting as bad as, or as good as, me! :-) As for 45, That bud is definately saying,'You're not one of us.'A brilliant album, you get better and better. Now I thank you for your lovely comments in my new 'paintings' album. delighted to have you be first, and SO pleased you enjoyed them after the long wait. 'Cornfield' was a joy to paint, A friend asked me to do it for a present for her husband. All those wildflowers and twigs in the bottom left corner were a real challenge, but a pleasure to do, as was catching just the right light on the corn-stubble. The'Spring sunshine' bluebells is one of my favourites too. I like to be able to wander into a picture. This one has now been sold, so this is my only record of it. You asked about the colours in the river Fraise. When painting water, you have to remember that, even if it is running fast, it still reflects the colours behind it, so you have to catch this 'other' colour as you paint the running water. Hughenden manor river was starting to ice up, so it reflected the blue sky above with extra intesity, so I tried to catch that, And that little bit of grass under the tree, where the sun had warmed the snow, was such a surprise, I just had to include it. No, I don't sit out and paint, I've tried it, but so many people gather round and talk to you, that your concentration just dissapears. so I take photos, or use other peoples if they ask me, or I ask them. I paint out of my heart, I need to feel myself there, in the place I am painting, and let my emotions guide my hand. No, I don't paint on silk, just on nice rough paper!.... Thanks again for all your kind words. Enjoy your weekend too, dear Galit, god bless, Sheila.

  • Hi Galit!! WOW!! Thrilled to be the first to sign this amazing album!! I am soo intrigued, as I have never seen anything like these either and aren't the photos great and show just how spectacular!! Sometimes the least beautiful of plants, have the most exquisite of flowers and fruit!! It was also great to be able to see inside the fruit thing, and what a combination of beauty with the cactus like bush, and the reddish fruit!! Bet you were thrilled to see it!! Thanks for sharing something else that is an everyday discovery on here.........'a new beauty to behold!'!! Great photos Galit and thanks for your kind encouragement in my Art Portfolio!! Re the humor, yes, and it is wicked..LOL!! One thing true Aussies do well is laugh at themselves....and glad that you are leaving your funny photos up on the Webas it is just great to see the funny side of life on here!! The 'vision' painting, was actually done with spray cans and leaves from the garden, branches, ferns etc, and now has some magic eyes in it too!! I didn't know what I wanted to create, just the colors and flowing and go from there!! the photo of it isn't really that good, and it is a partner to a huge bulletshape pot that I did with the same therem and gifted to my son last Xmas!! It is now a lounge talking piece and weights quite a bit, and trust me, as I had a battle trying to roll it up the backyard to paint it!! There is absolutely no threat to me as an artist with the digital cameras!! I see them as a miracle and besides, on here when I see something that just teaches deep in my Spirit and I feel this huge urge to paint from that beauty, I ask permission from the owners and they are always wonderful and say yes...got for it!! It is wonderful in that, I can't get to Africa at the moment to photograph the wonderful animals that i feel to paint, but the people who have are just elated that i want to paint from their photos!! That to me, is the wonderful gift of the camera!! To me, it is magic and a powerful artistic tool!! The bus was a scream and painted for a beautiful couple from New Zealand, but the fumes from the Automotive paint is something I prefer to give a miss!! That stuff is pure gluelike and a mission with a paintbrush and definitely a mask while applying!! Tons of fun, wonderful people, and the bus is going home to N.Z. with them in a few years!! I am currently doing a couple of paintings from the magic photos of pbonu, of African people and I am engrossed in the work!! I am fortunate in what I now do, in that I get huge enjoyment from this creation!! I have waited all my life to get to my art....now the boys have grown...so now is my time!! I don't really want or need anything...just my artgear and a few needs and hit the road...travel...see and paint the beauty from around the world!! Travel of the world has been a dream of mine since a child,...got sidetracked and married...LOL!...and many years later, here I am...and feeling wonderful!! Thank you soo much for taking the time to view my work, ...there is a lot that isn't up there...and my camera was stolen months ago....so now...all monies go into my artgear...and the big canvases that I keep buying and painting!! I love to paint as big as I can...You have a really great day, and it was lovely of you to write and express your feelings about the gifts we all share!! Take care.....Em from Aussie
